WISE Awarded as a “Champion of Migration” for Empowering Migrants in Ethiopia

 The "Champions of Migration 2025 Award" recognizes WISE's vital work in improving migrant lives and governance.

Addis Ababa, December 18, 2025 WISE is proud to announce it has received the prestigious "Champions of Migration 2025 Award." This honor recognizes the organization's contribution to migration governance and its profound commitment to improving the lives of migrants across Ethiopia.

The award was presented during a special ceremony celebrating International Migrants Day, organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Ethiopia in collaboration with the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs (MoWSA). The high-level event underscored the national importance of the issue, graced by the presence of Guest of Honor, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh.

He was joined by key dignitaries including H.E. Ergoge Tesfaye, Minister of Women and Social Affairs; H.E. Sofie From-Emmesberger, EU Ambassador to Ethiopia; and Ms. Abibatou Wane, Chief of Mission of IOM Ethiopia. Their collective presence highlighted the critical partnership between government, international bodies, and organizations like WISE in shaping a supportive future for migrants.

The "Champions of Migration" award celebrates individuals, communities, and organizations demonstrating exceptional leadership. For WISE, this recognition is a testament to its ongoing efforts to drive positive, tangible change for some of Ethiopia's most vulnerable populations.
